Out of the Box Series

This series was conceived with the thought of making my work appear more real. I wanted the image to appear three-dimensional. I have depicted animals from the Chinese Zodiac using acrylic paints to mimic a traditional Chinese medium and then having them advance “out of the box”.

The Chinese Zodiac, or Sheng Xiao, is a cycle of animal signs and their ascribed attributes that repeats itself every 12 years, based on the lunar calendar. The animals included are Dragon, Horse, Monkey, Ox, Rooster, Tiger, Snake, Goat, Dog, Pig.
